Lost Penguin Left to Find its Own Way Home

Jun 28 2011

An Antarctic Emperor Penguin, nicknamed “Happy Feet”, has recently wandered from its original home and has wound up on the beaches in New Zealand. This lost penguin has been eating the wet sand, accidentally mistaking it for snow, which has caused health problems because the sand does not dissolve in its stomach.  This penguin has captured the hearts of many and leaves people wondering why the bird cannot be rescued and brought back home. Doing so, though, could potentially spread infections to other penguins that the bird could have caught swimming through the warmer climates. For now, experts say the best response to the issue would be to let nature take its course.
